Vaccinations and Vet Checks – What We Need Before Boarding

Before your pet starts their staycation at The Tiny Toots, there’s one thing we need to make sure of: that they’re healthy and protected. Just like human hotels want clean guests, we want our tiny toots safe, well, and ready for a calm, sniff-filled stay.

Here’s everything you need to know about vaccination and health check requirements before boarding your cat, rabbit, or guinea pig with us.

✅ Why We Ask for Vet Checks

Vet checks are not just a formality—they ensure:

  • Your tiny toot is fit for travel and boarding
  • There are no undiagnosed illnesses
  • We can be prepared for any medical needs

We recommend scheduling a basic wellness check at least a week before boarding.

🐱 Cat Vaccinations

Required:

  • FVRCP (Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, Panleukopenia)
    Recommended:
  • FeLV (Feline Leukemia) especially for outdoor cats

We also require:

  • Negative test for FIV, FELV
  • Up-to-date flea and tick prevention
  • Deworming, especially for kittens

🐰 Rabbit Health

We don’t require specific vaccinations for rabbits, but we do require:

  • Clear history of no GI stasis, mites, or dental issues in the past 30 days
  • Trimming of nails prior to boarding, if needed

🐹 Guinea Pig Requirements

Guinea pigs don’t require vaccinations, but we do ask for:

  • Good appetite and normal droppings in the days leading up to boarding
  • Clear skin (no signs of mites or fungal issues)

📝 Summary

Keeping everyone safe starts with strong health practices.

If your tiny toot gets sick before boarding, not to worry, we are capable to handling any illness. We are trained to administer sub-cut, inhaler, pills, liquid medication or insulin jabs. We do ask that you let us know beforehand so that we can make the necessary preparations.
